Stubborn

What is one word that describes you?

I am quite sure that if you asked those who know me they could come up with more than a few creative one-word descriptions of me, but we’ll stick with “stubborn” for now. πŸ˜„

I’d blame it on my age, but I have always had a bit of a stubborn streak in me. It’s probably gotten worse as I have gotten older, but it’s always been there to some degree.

Sometimes it can be a detriment. There are times where if I wasn’t so stubborn I would probably get stuff done quicker. That said, if I am wrong I usually have no issue admitting it. But if I still believe I am right? Forget it. Just move on. Better for all concerned. 😜

Having a stubborn streak has also served me well at times.

I can think of more than a few times in the service when my stubborn streak would not allow me to quit, so score one there.

Stubborn. Tenacious. Two sides of the same coin, really.

I could also say that after I lost my job back in ’23, my stubbornness/resolve kept me from going totally off the deep end. I was hellbound and determined that those bastards weren’t going to get the last laugh, and they didn’t. If anything, they ended up much worse off, which didn’t break my heart even a little. Hell, I’d even go as far as saying serves them right. 😊

Yep, I am laughing at you, not with you. You suck, I rock.

So, yeah, I think being stubborn isn’t always a bad thing. If you can temper it right (still working on that), it can serve you well in certain situations. It’s all about moderation, I guess.

Have a great one, kids!

  5. Stubbornness is definitely not always a bad thing. As long as we continue to grow as people, it’s okay to be stubborn about things we feel strongly about.

    1. Agreed, Pooja. If it’s arguing just to argue, it can get old.
I will admit I have done that before, but I try to be conscious of it as much as I can.

      1. I think we all argue just to argue once in a while but as long as we don’t waste too much energy it’s fine.

That said, I am not so bad that I argue every single point. I don’t have the energy for that πŸ˜„

  7. Taurus Sun here. Stubborn I understand. πŸ˜‚ In the past several years life threw me some very tough situations that helped calm this to a conservative muse. Growing wise with age can do that for us if we choose. But, I suspect I could still out stubborn the mule if I wanted to! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Age definitely helps. You find you have less energy for it overall, but it still has moments where it can rear it’s ugly head lol

Haha, Kevin, love the honesty… Stubbornness definitely has its perks, especially when it keeps you going in tough times. Sounds like you’ve turned it into a superpower… Keep rocking that resolve, my friend πŸ˜„

    1. Thank you, Annemarie. Honestly, I think it can be a bit of both. It’s just watching to keep it from drifting too far into “curse” territory.

      Thank you! 😊

  11. ‘Stubborn’ can mean a lot of things. My husband definitely falls into that category but he also has military background and has had a lot to deal with. If he wasn’t ‘stubborn’ I don’t think he’d still be here. If I wasn’t ‘stubborn’ I wouldn’t have done or tried even half the things I have. It can be a blessing and a curse. Maybe ‘determined’ is a better word?!

    1. I think “determination” is in and of itself, a form of stubbornness. It’s kind of like a game of degrees, and the line can be somewhat fine to tread.
