High adventure, Matey!
Habits? Routine? What’s that?
So, I am officially two weeks gone from the old job and working my way into the mix at the new one.
It’s been a big period of adjustment for me. New place, new people, new industry, new hours (for the moment, at least).
Needless to say, “daily habits” are not much of a thing right now. ๐
Making an immediate switch from 12-hour overnight shifts to 8-hour day shifts to train has been a slight shock to the system.

It’s what time??
The job is also fairly intense and there’s a lot to learn. There’s a lot of procedures and regulations involved in this industry, so the curve is pretty steep. I’ll figure it all out, but it’s definitely going to be more than a minute.
That said, most everyone thus far has been quite pleasant and helpful, and that’s certainly made the adjustment a bit easier. It’s tough coming in as the new guy surrounded by folks who have been doing this 10, 20, and in some cases, 50 years. Yes, 50. These folks know this like the back of their hands, so it is hard to not feel like a total idiot some days.
I’m the minnow in a sea full of sharks right now. ๐
I’ve also been navigating my health issues and a massive heatwave on top of that, so maintaining focus is definitely a challenge.

So much time in the hospital I should be on the payroll.
Spending More Time At The Doctor’s Office Than The Doctor Does
Not quite, but it damned sure feels like it some days.
I’ve had and have several doctor’s appointments on the docket. I got approval from insurance to get a procedure done which will hopefully help me regain some mobility. This will be a huge help, as this place is even bigger than the last one, and getting around is a royal bitch sometimes. On the upside, I got signed off to drive a cart around, which will help some in the interim.

License to drive. Hell yeah!
I also passed along a link to a former colleague who is looking for a new job. As a rule, I don’t refer or endorse too many people for jobs, as I have been burned in the past, but this guy is a good dude who deserves better than what he’s currently getting.
He’ll be interviewing soon, so hopefully that goes well and maybe I’ll have another familiar face around me, which would be kinda cool. ๐

The more the merrier!
There’s going to be a few more health things I need to get attended to as well, so the next few months will continue to be busy in that regard. First and foremost, getting around easier, then I will chip away at the other stuff.
Etc., Etc., So On And So Forth…
Creatively, I just plain have not had a ton of time to devote to such pursuits. Hell, I’ve barely even played my new guitar. I’ll get to it when I can, but right now, other stuff is just far more pressing.
Same with writing – I just plain have not had much come to me.
Photography has been a bit easier, because if I see an opportunity, I can pull the phone out fairly quickly and capture a shot. I have gotten some decent ones and will likely post some more soon.
I’ve been able to do some exercising in my spare time. It’s been mostly quick 5 – 10 minute sessions, but it’s enough to keep the blood flowing and stay semi-limber. I’ll take it for the time being.

Doing what I can when I can.
Really, that’s about it for the latest and greatest from Gorilla HQ. I’m going to try and collect up the latest No Theme Thursday entries and get a Showcase post up early next week if at all possible. If you have an entry left to post, I will probably try and round them all up tomorrow for a frame of reference.
On that note, I bid you all a great day.
Stay happy, healthy and…
Frosty, of course.
