Good day, all. A brief update on the first few days of my little Agoge project.
I started on Friday 03/22, as a bit of a whim. I just felt the sudden urge to take something new on. Sometimes things require a bit of thought, and other times, it’s best to just go with your instincts. In this case, I chose the latter.
As I am running this project purely on instinct, I am going to handle the posts regarding it the same way. More than likely, it will be in the form of updates once or twice per week. I’m just going to go by feel and trust my gut on this. Some entries may be more detailed than others, depending on if there is anything particularly noteworthy to share.
So far, it’s going pretty well. A bit free form, which is a bit counterintuitive to what an agoge actually represents, but as the days roll on, I foresee it becoming a bit more concrete.
I have been performing the 100 daily pushups since Friday 03/22, and find this much more manageable than the 200 daily I was doing a few months back. It also leaves me more energy for other exercises, which I am happy about. Exercise sessions have been averaging about 30 – 45 minutes each and thus far have consisted of pushups and a variety of overhead pressing, rowing and curling movements. the back and neck have been responding favorably, so this is good news. I have kept the weights low to moderate, not going over 100 lbs. on any exercise to date.

I have spent at least 15 minutes daily in quiet reflection/meditation, and have found it quite restful and refreshing. Usually, I just go find a quiet spot, grab a seat, close my yes and let my mind wander for a couple minutes and then pretty much try to let it go blank, and merely exist for a bit. A thought may come to mind while I am engaged in this activity, and if it does, and it suits me, I will ponder it a short spell before resuming my daily activities. I also make a point of expressing gratitude during this time, as I find it very helpful with maintaining a positive focus.

Lastly, I have been spending at least an hour per day either reading, writing, or usually, a bit of both. My reading has mostly been centered around nutritional articles the past couple days, and writing has been what I have been posting on the blog.

In a nutshell, I feel the first few days have gone pretty well. As the days roll on, I am sure I will hone it to be a bit more efficient, but I do not intend to overthink it too much. This little experiment is, for me, more about the doing and not so much the thinking.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far, and have a great day! π€
