Absolute Agitation

Ever had one of those days?

Yeah, you know the ones.

The ones where every little thing just pisses you off to the point that you want to put your head through a wall, or your boot in someone’s ass?

Or, hell…Maybe both? ๐Ÿ˜„

And then, to really add salt to the wound, the more you tell yourself it’s not a big deal, the more it seems like a big deal and the more it pisses you off?

Indeed, it is that kind of day.

Ya know, shit happens, and we all have those days, but the exceptionally frustrating part is when there’s really no good reason for it.

But, I guess that’s fine too. Part of life and all that stuff.

There doesn’t need to be some deep, hidden meaning behind every time we’re in a freaking mood.

Sometimes the best answer as to why we’re in a mood truly is the simplest.

“I just am.”

Accept it and move on. It’ll pass.

And if it doesn’t?

Well, there’s always a wall that needs a skull put through it. ๐Ÿ˜‹

(No, I do not recommend that. If you do so, you do it at your own risk.)

  1. Yes, I too wonder sometimes, why people donโ€™t accept how they exactly feel about things. When someone says, โ€œIt doesnโ€™t bother me or I donโ€™t careโ€ it means they keep thinking only about it and it bothers them a lot. Why can to people just say what they feel. One million dollar question.

    1. The Stoics used to say (essentially) acknowledge the feeling and then let it go. Not always easy, granted.
I think people won’t acknowledge bothersome feelings out of fear that they are showing a weakness, so they continually insist they are not bothered.

      1. Reading the Stoics has helped me a lot with what you are describing above. Having a feeling, recognising it and letting go is one things but I’m also interested in exploring where the feeling came from and understanding why it happened. This way I can better prepare for it next time.

      2. I think that could be a very beneficial tactic as well. As much as I am loathe to use the word “trigger”, it fits in this scenario. What triggered it, and what can I do to better manage that in the future? And, if it’s something beyond my control (like the unbearable heat/humidity), what can I do to better control my reaction to it?

      3. Itโ€™s a sign of weakness I agree. But everyone who listens knows exactly how they are feeling at the core of their thought. So whatโ€™s the point in pretending to be something else that we are not. We should never be ashamed of who we are, however bad it might be.

      4. Human emotion and ego are a very funny thing. People are very overprotective of their egos sometimes, which is how they end up shattered so often.

  2. Acknowledging it and then allowing it to pass is all you can do, really!

Wallowing in it, or worrying about why it is the way it is sometimes isnโ€™t worth it.

I agree with you though (Iโ€™ll leave that one up to your interpretation, lol).

    1. No, it usually isn’t worth it at all, really. I don’t overthink it if I can help it. I just accept I’m bitchy for some reason or another and roll along best I can.

  3. This world feeds on agitation these days, hell I have to admit I have used agitation, as the agitator to provoke action or movement of a stagnant person or process.

Ask yourself are you in a stagnant position?

    1. Between crap sleep and high heat/humidity the past few days, the root cause mostly lay there today.
Ironically I’ve actually been anything but stagnant lately. Lots of things in motion right now

    1. Yeah, I have not had to “get used to” that for a long while now. Soft in my old age ๐Ÿ˜„
Although, my work can get up to an average of 105 – 115 in the summer.
It’s the goddamn humidity. That’s really the bitch of it all for me.

Amish? That would explain the no AC then I assume?

      1. humidity has been bad here in Tx too this year, feels a bit like Florida. As for no AC I live completely off grid full solar power, I do have a nice pool to chill in a cool 78 water temp all summer…

Venting has an important function, and I certainly have these days, not as often as I used to, but I can even feel when they are at the door and am able to give people around me a heads-up occasionally. ๐Ÿ˜€

Iโ€™m really sorry to hear that youโ€™re having such a tough day. I understand how frustrating and overwhelming things can get sometimes.

Anger is a natural response when things donโ€™t go the way we hoped, and itโ€™s okay to feel that way. Iโ€™ve been there myself. However, Iโ€™ve learned through my faith that while itโ€™s fine to feel anger, letting it take control of us can often lead to more frustration rather than solutions.

One thing thatโ€™s helped me during difficult times is a perspective Iโ€™ve found through my faith. Thereโ€™s a verse from the Bible that says, โ€œIn your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angryโ€ (Ephesians 4:26). This verse reminds us that itโ€™s important to address our anger without letting it fester.

I know not everyone shares the same beliefs, but Iโ€™ve found that finding moments of calm and reflection can be really beneficial. When Iโ€™m feeling overwhelmed, I try to take a few minutes to step back, breathe, and pray for peace and wisdom. Itโ€™s a way for me to ground myself and seek a higher perspective on the situation.

Even if youโ€™re not religious, there are similar concepts that can help. You might try taking a break, practicing some mindfulness, or even just taking a walk. These practices can help clear your mind and give you a new perspective on the challenges youโ€™re facing.

Another Bible verse that I find comforting is Matthew 11:28, where Jesus says, โ€œCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.โ€ Itโ€™s a reminder that we donโ€™t have to carry our burdens alone. Whether itโ€™s through prayer, meditation, or simply talking things out with a friend, finding a way to release your worries can really make a difference.

Sometimes just sharing what youโ€™re going through with someone can lighten the load a bit.

Remember, tough times are a part of life, but they donโ€™t last forever. We can get through them, and thereโ€™s always hope for better days ahead.

    Hang in there Brother.

    1. Thanks very much, Willie. You are quite right that a step back can be very helpful indeed. And anger or frustration are legitimate feelings that need to be acknowledged and processed just like any others.

As long as we do not dwell in them for too long, it is usually healthy to let them out. The sooner we process them the sooner we can let go.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply and I hope you’re having a great evening ๐Ÿ˜Š

  12. Oh, yeah… Way too frickin’ often I should say. One of my biggest crappy things dealing with my ADD/ADHD thing is my mood. I can never control it! It’s been a whole lot better since I started with some supplements, but when my mood is really bad, I just wanna kill myself basically.

Not that I would, of course, but you catch my drift. It’s an expression.
