Respect

What principles define how you live?

I would say “respect” is the overall theme I try to live by.

Respect others and their viewpoints, even if you don’t always agree.

No one is ever going to see exactly eye to eye on every single issue, so live and let live. There’s no reason to disrespect others just because you don’t share the same thoughts on every little thing. If you talk to someone long enough, there’s a good chance there are at least a couple things you have in common.

Respect your work and do it with a sense of pride.

Yeah, sure, you may not like your job that much, but respect the fact that you have one and are quite probably in a much better spot than a lot of folks. Also, respect yourself enough to do a good job. Now, I am not saying kill yourself, or have undying loyalty to a company, because they probably don’t have any to you, but do your shit and do it well. If for no other reason than to minimize the chance you’ll get bitched at for something stupid. ๐Ÿ˜„

Show respect for the world around you.

We often take this beautiful world around us for granted. But how easily we forget that without this world around us, life as we know it would not exist. Everything is part of the great chain that supports life. The water that flows around us, the air that we breathe automatically, the plants, trees and animals that sustain this world and do their part to keep it spinning.

I’m not saying you have to join Greenpeace or chain yourselves to a tree here. Just show some appreciation and respect for the earth and be grateful. Don’t litter and be a decent human being (or gorilla).

I like to keep things simple when I can, and while I am far from perfect, I find a simple general attitude of respect can go a long, long way.

Peace out, folks. Rock on.

  11. True words. ‘Respect’ is an ‘easy’ for some people as part of their values and their appreciation for life and its blessings. In the same time, it’s an ‘easy to avoid’ trait for other people who prioritize their ego.

We did a field cleanup earlier today, and I’m like “there are literally trashcans everywhere!”… but it’s everywhere you go. If there’s food and beverage accessible; hell, even if it isn’t… humans ๐Ÿ˜‘ Anyway, that’s where your post just took me. I appreciate your “respect” principle โค
